The trouble with most audio cables is that they have just two conductors – a single solid core center conductor that carries the positive charge and a braided outer wire that carries both the ground signal and acts as a shield against RF (Radio Frequency) and EM (Electro-Magnetic) noise. The problem with this design is that mixing RF and EM noise with the ground signal wire pollutes the audio signal.
Many high-end audio cable manufacturers avoid this problem by using two independent wire conductors – one for the positive and another for the negative – and surrounding these with a separate outer RFI and EMI shield. The resulting balanced audio cable can offer a significant upgrade from standard unbalanced cables. Just make sure that your AV gear includes XLR connections that support balanced interconnects.
True Balanced Premier Interconnect by Pangea Audio offers high-end features and premium metallurgy, including Cardas Grade One Copper conductors and advanced gold-plated Prime 500 XLR connectors with a spring-type locking mechanism. The cables are hand terminated to assure top quality.
Key Performance Features
Founded in 2010, Pangea Audio is an American-based company dedicated to providing premium audio products and accessories. Pangea Audio products are currently in use by more than 100,000 audiophiles and music lovers in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, and dozens of other countries.
True Balanced Design
Some XLR cable manufacturers use only two conductors in their cable and then use the cable's braided shield for both circuit grounding and shielding. This is not a true 'balanced' cable. True Balanced Premier Interconnect by Pangea don't take any shortcuts. They include three independently-insulated and shielded conductors plus a two-layer outer shield.
Premier cables feature a separate solid core conductor made from no-compromise Cardas Grade One Copper, which George Cardas of Cardas Audio developed for his own premium cables.
George’s copper is mined in Arizona, then shipped to a New England factory where it is very S-L-O-W-L-Y drawn into conductors using an argon gas-filled copper extrusion machine in a process that includes reduction annealing between steps to further purify and meld the copper into what George calls "the most amazing audio conductor I have ever experienced. It is quite simply the best copper on the planet."
Triple Shielding Rejects Noise
To reject noise and interference from inside the cable and the outside room, Pangea Premier interconnects are triple-shielded. Each conductor has its own foil shield and then the entire cable is encased in separate foil and braided shields.
Insulating the Cardas Copper conductor is advanced PE foam insulation. PE is one of the best commercially available insulators and was chosen because it has a smooth, relaxed sound. Another benefit is its superior flexibility.
Advanced Pangea Audio Prime 500 XLR Connectors
The most impressive external feature consists of the premium Prime 500 XLR connectors. They feature gold-plated solid pins, machined metal covers, advanced polymer insulation, and a high-quality spring-type locking mechanism. The finishing touch is an extremely durable and attractive black chromium finish that resists scuffs and scratches.
Who Should Use Balanced Cables?
If your electronics offer balanced connections, these are the cables you should be using for lower background noise and cleaner sound. We recommend them for:
